The digital landscape has fundamentally changed. We are no longer just fighting malware; we are fighting the weaponization of human psychology and identity. The BU ISSF was founded to address a critical gap in the modern technological era: the absence of a unified front that combines advanced algorithmic defense with trauma-informed human support. We chose this path because technology should elevate society, not exploit its vulnerabilities.
The Escalating Threat Landscape
The Global Epidemic
Recent 2026 global threat intelligence reports indicate that deepfake fraud attempts across contact centers and identity verification systems have surged massively. What took attackers weeks to produce in 2022 now takes seconds.
An estimated 98% of all deepfake videos found online are non-consensual, explicit content (NCII) used for harassment, character assassination, and extortion.
The Bangladesh Context
- The Gender DivideBangladesh currently experiences a significant digital gender gap, making women particularly vulnerable to targeted cyber-attacks and technology-facilitated violence.
- The Reality of HarassmentData from the Police Cyber Support for Women (PCSW) highlights tens of thousands of complaints. Crimes are concentrated in doxing (personal data leaks), Facebook account hijacking, and severe blackmail via manipulated media.
- The Psychological TollVictims of cybercrimes experience extreme cognitive overload, anxiety, and trauma, rendering traditional, complex legal websites unusable when they need help the most.
The Trimodal Initiative
To combat these cascading threats, BU ISSF operates on a foundation of three core pillars. We believe that true digital security requires engineering, education, and empathy.
1. The Sanctuary
We believe victims deserve a digital refuge that does not re-traumatize them. Our first pillar focuses on operating a zero-trace, psychologically safe support portal built on Trauma-Informed Computing principles. We prioritize user agency, offering anonymous access to emergency hotlines, legal rights education, and guides for tools like StopNCII.
2. The Vanguard
We believe the youth of Bangladesh must transition from passive technology consumers to active digital defenders. Through interactive learning modules, gamified phishing simulations, and hands-on ethical hacking labs, we cultivate a proactive tech-safety mindset among students, preparing them to secure their own digital footprints.
3. The Innovation
We believe in mastering the machine. Our research pillar dives deep into penetration testing methodologies, the integration of edge-AI systems, cryptographic protocols, and the mechanics of Transformer neural networks. We analyze the architecture of threats to build stronger, systemic defenses.

The Executive Core
A dedicated team of founders, researchers, and technologists—ranging from Certified Red Team Analysts to UI/UX engineers—who oversee the club’s strategic direction, manage the Next.js infrastructure, and develop full-stack security architectures.
The Advisory Board
Guided by esteemed faculty from the CSE Department, legal experts from the Barishal District Bar Association, and international R&D mentors, ensuring our research is academically sound and our victim-support legal frameworks are perfectly accurate.
Specialized Task Forces
Focuses on analyzing AI-driven vulnerabilities, Transformer models, and penetration testing.
Ensures our digital platform strictly adheres to WCAG AAA accessibility standards and trauma-informed design (TIDD), utilizing calming color palettes and panic safeguards.
Responsible for PR, offline workshops, and translating complex cyber laws (like the Cyber Security Act 2025) into digestible, infographic-based education for the public.
